The Allosaurus was a large theropod dinosaur that lived in the late Jurassic period. It was originally found in 1877 by Othniel Charles Marsh during the period of the dinosaur wars where Marsh was competing fiercely with Edward Cope to be the most famous dinosaur collector.
It was a huge 8.5 meters long and some suggest that it was even bigger at over 12meters in length. It was at the top of the food chain and ate many other dinosaurs including the Stegosaurus.
